To celebrate its first birthday, Harveys Cellars is delighted to welcome celebrity chef Martin Blunos to guest chef at the venue on Thursday 24 January 2013.

Having held two Michelin stars for more than fifteen years, this blond haired, walrus-moustached Baltic giant of a man has a wicked sense of humour and is a most colourful character. He was born and brought up near Bath, and in January he will revisit his West Country roots in cooking for one night only at Harveys Cellars, Bristol.

Martin will create a fantastic tapas-style menu using the famous Harveys Sherries both in his cooking and paired to dishes. With a wide range of Harveys variants to suit all different moods and occasions there is a sumptuous sherry for every type of dish.

Martin Blunos commented, “I’m delighted to have been asked to guest chef at Harveys and really look forward to showcasing the fantastic range Harveys Sherries whilst offering a first class dining experience to really compliment the Harveys Cellars venue”.

Claire Judd, General Manager at Harveys Cellars added, “Martin will add a touch of stardust to the Cellars and we are honoured that he has agreed to cook for us. We are pleased to announce that this will be the first in a series of high-profile guest chef events at Harveys and very much look forward to this first event with the gastronomic legend that is Martin Blunos on the 24th January!”

Harveys’ vineyards are situated in the picturesque region of Jerez in southern Spain where the local winegrowers cultivate a selection of grapes. The master blender, Manuel J. Valcarcel, blends the grapes to create different styles of Harveys Sherries which are then aged in a traditional solera system, which gives them a rich and silky smooth flavour.

The Harveys range includes the well-known Harveys Bristol Cream, decanted in the iconic blue glass bottles. Martin will also be pairing the tapas with the Harveys VORS range of fine and rare sherries, each of which has been aged for more than 30 years in soleras founded more than 100 years ago. The range includes the Fine Old Amontillado, Palo Cortado, Rich Old Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez. The supreme complexity and balance of these rare sherries attest to winemaking and blending skills acquired from over 200 years in the sherry trade.

Tickets will be £85 for tapas and expertly paired sherries – a fantastic dining experience brought to you by one of the best chefs in the country coupled with one of our most celebrated drinks brands!
