Swoon is run by a third generation branch of the Forte family, who originally brought their gelato to the South West all the way back in 1926. They opened their Park Street gelateria to great acclaim in 2016, and they’ve had a hugely successful year at the Great Taste awards.
As well as scooping (sorry) the Producer of the Year Award, Swoon were awarded 1 star for their Bacio Gelato and their Amarena Cherry Cheesecake Gelato, 2 stars for their Mango Sorbetto, and 3 stars for another four varieties. The Great Taste judges praised the “oh so moreish” Hazelnut Gelato, the “lovely and creamy” Pistachio Gelato, the “masterfully executed” Neapolitan Coffee Gelato, and the “superb” Chocolate Sorbetto, which they say is the “perfect encapsulation of chocolate”.
What’s more, Swoon’s Chocolate Sorbetto and Neapolitan Coffee Gelato have both gained places on Great Taste’s acclaimed “Top 50 Foods” list for 2017 – a seriously impressive achievement.
