My Foodie Penpals Parcel, September 2012

Spread the love

I love getting my Foodie Penpals parcels through the post every month – it’s just like Christmas! Thanks to the wonderful Carol Anne at This Is Rock Salt, a number of food bloggers are paired up every month to send and receive parcels of food and drink related goodies – for more details of the scheme, see here.

Sending my parcel this month was the lovely Fay of Food Fables – a Leeds-based food blogger whose blog combines reviews of local restaurants with cookbook reviews, product reviews and some great recipes – have a look at her blog here.

The box contained a mixture of Yorkshire produce and items from further afield, with all of the former purchased from Out Of Yorkshire – we need something similar in Bristol!

The Yorkshire portion of the box included a packet of Yorkshire Crisps flavoured with Henderson’s Sauce (the Yorkshire equivalent of Worcester/Lancashire sauce), which I still haven’t opened. The biscuits you see at the bottom right are from Lottie Shaw’s, and are biscuits based on the Yorkshire Parkin, full of oatmeal, black treacle, ginger and syrup and great for dunking!

A packet of Anglesey Sea Salt pork scratchings from the Awfully Posh Snack Company didn’t last long at all, and the miniature jar of lemon curd will probably be used very quickly if the boyfriend gets his hands on it… 🙂

The box also contains a Cashew Cookie bar from Nakd – a snack bar including only raw cashews and dates, which I’ve had before and LOVE, and I’m saving the final item (which looks amazing) – a packet of handcrafted blueberry marshmallows from Leeds-based company Art of Mallow – who knew that marshmallows were available in so many different varieties!

Thanks so much for the parcel, Fay – I’m so happy with it! Hope you received a great parcel in return, and I’m – as always – looking forward to next month…
