Visionary chefs Jonray & Peter Sanchez-Iglesias of Casamia, Bristol have taken theĀ prestigious crown of Chef of the Year in The Good Food Guide 2015, the UK’s best sellingĀ restaurant guide.

Every year, the Good Food Guide team recognises excellence across the restaurantĀ industry. Elizabeth Carter, Consultant Editor of The Good Food Guide, comments on whatĀ made the Sanchez Brothers stand out this year.

ā€œOver the past couple of years Jonray and Peter Sanchez-Iglesias have grown in statureĀ and I’m really pleased to be able to rank them with the best chefs in the UK in theĀ Waitrose Good Food Guide 2015. The brothers have come to understand what peopleĀ want to eat, put a high premium on seasonality and freshness, and deliver dishes thatĀ are vibrantly seasoned, intricately composed and utterly delicious. As a result, Casamia isĀ proud, vital and very much worth a visit. ā€œ

Jonray Sanchez, head chef and proprietor of Casamia comments ā€œWe are ecstatic to haveĀ won Best Chefs in Waitrose Good Food Guide 2015. We’ve worked so hard in the lastĀ eight years to earn recognition and the fact that a guide we respect so much thinks we’reĀ worthy of this title is simply amazing. We’re not going to stop here; we’re going to workĀ even harder, trying new ways to create spectacular food. Our ultimate aim is the HolyĀ Grail: three Michelin stars.ā€

Casamia also secured the 39thĀ spot in the revered Top 50 restaurant listing in The Good Food Guide 2015.

Peter Sanchez continues, ā€œAs the only establishment in Bristol we are thrilled to achieveĀ a spot in the top 50 in such a highly acclaimed guide alongside restaurants such asĀ L’Enclume, Cumbria, The Fat Duck, Berkshire and The Ledbury, London. The UK restaurantĀ scene is full of exceptional culinary talent and to be considered as one of the best gives usĀ such encouragement and inspiration to continue pushing boundaries within our kitchenĀ and hopefully one day make number one.ā€

The award marks the culmination of public feedback, anonymous visits and deliberations by aĀ team of inspectors across the country.Ā Jonray & Peter join a renowned alumni of other great chefs who have been given thisĀ award in previous years including Angela Hartnett, Sat Bains, Simon Rogan and JasonĀ Atherton.

The chef of the year award is one of eight Editor’s Awards featured in the The Good FoodĀ Guide 2015 which will be published on the 8thĀ September.
