Spring is finally here, the clocks are going forward and Love Food Festival is back with its flagship event, taking place at the Bristol institution that is Paintworks.

The new season brings with it new shoots of growth, fresh local produce and an opportunity to spring-clean your eating habits. Love Food Festival will be tapping into all that new energy with a fresh set of producer stalls, all eager to share their produce and knowledge.

Pick up an energising juice and talk nutrition with S’juice me, find out all about aquaponics and taste some delicious fish from Bioaqua, and get tips for growing your own from Glenholme herbs in their first appearance of the year.

Visitors certainly won’t go hungry, with a huge line-up of street food that will fill the courtyard. Get your oyster fix from Oysters On Wheels, or treat yourself to Sunday lunch with a difference from the likes of Rib Street, jerk chicken from Agnes Spencer, homemade sausage rolls from Little Jack Horner or a fresh Greek salad from Eat Like a Greek.

Dick Willows will of course be there with his unbeatable West Country cider if juices aren’t your thing!

In the children’s area Botanical Ink will be helping kids to get creative with inks made from vegetables and plants, while curly vegetable spaghetti and ‘pasta’ can be made to take home for later. They will also have the opportunity to learn how to sprout seeds and beans and use them at home to make tasty salads.

With Easter just around the corner this is also the time to stock up on local produce ready for your family gathering. Fresh veg at bargain prices from Kidner’s Organics, local cheeses and maybe an Easter egg or two from Cocoa Magic. Kids can make pompom chicks and bunnies in the craft area, as well as sunny yellow paper daffodils to brighten your table.

Commenting, festival founder Lorna Knapman said: ”I love this time of year, it’s time to celebrate new growth and life and get energised for the longer, productive days ahead.”
