Literally translated as “little beauty”, Bellita – opening on Cotham Hill on October 16th – is described on its Twitter profile as “the boisterous little sister of Bell’s Diner”. Brought to you by the team behind Bell’s Diner & Bar Rooms, the new venue will stand on the old Flinty Red site on Cotham Hill – and while not a replica of its parent brand, it will “carry the same spirit of convivial eating, cheerful drinking and jolly music”.
Bellita will be more led by its bar, with a relaxed vibe that will allow customers to feel comfortable visiting just to perch at the bar and have a drink or a quick bite, rather than a full meal. Expect a compact but well-chosen wine list – consisting completely of wines made by women – as well as a range of other drinks to include shims and shrubs.
As with Bell’s Diner, the food menu will have a Spanish, North African and Middle Eastern influence, using a combination of ingredients sourced from these regions and those sourced from local suppliers. Many dishes will be cooked over charcoal by head chef Joe Harvey, while Alex de Salengre will be in charge front of house.
Open from 5pm to 11pm Sunday to Thursday and from 12pm to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, Bellita will open its doors for the first time at 5pm on Friday, October 16th.
