If you don’t work close enough to the city centre to enjoy the amazing sandwiches from Meat And Bread, then pine no more. Owner Ben will be moving from American-style sandwich cart to bricks and mortar kitchen from the end of February, as he takes over the kitchen at The Three Tuns.

The Arbor Ales venue on St George’s Road, central Bristol, will be the home of Ben’s new permanent venture as of February 28th. While the focus on American-style sandwiches will still be prominent, Ben will also be introducing smoked good and charcuterie in the future: think homemade salamis, smoked salmon, smoked prawns and more.

Says Ben, “The charcuterie will take sometime as it is fermenting but I would like it to be an interesting addition. We will aim to become known as a smokehouse and incorporate beer into the food also. We want to encourage people to enjoy an Arbor Ale with a sandwich or some cured meats and will still be competitively priced.”

Once the kitchen refurb is complete, diners will also be able to enjoy hand cut fries alongside their sandwiches.

The menu will include some old Meat And Bread favourites, alongside a variety of new combinations. Among others, Ben’s sandwich fillings will include…

– Salt beef, sauerkraut, pickles and Russian dressing
– Cured pork belly, romaine lettuce, deep fried tomatoes and pimento cheese
– Smoked honey beer brined turkey club with crayonnaise,
– Crispy smoked haddock banh mi,
– Smoked salmon on rye with spring onion cream cheese.

All the meat and fish will be completely home smoked, and the kitchen will be open for lunch and dinner Tuesday to Saturdays, times to be confirmed. The launch night will be taking place on Thursday 28th, and they’ll be giving out some samples of smoked prawns and salmon for those eating…just another reason to head down and see what they are doing!

I hope the success of the sandwich cart translates into booming business in a more formal kitchen environment. Good luck, Ben!
