Be At One: new cocktail bar now open on the Triangle

Located in the former home of Hermanos at 55 Queen’s Road, Be At One is a predominantly London-centric chain of cocktail bars that has now branched out to the South West. Based on the cocktails that we tried at the bar’s press launch on February 25, it’s going to be a hit.

The bar has a late licence, allowing it to open from 4.30pm till 2am Monday-Saturday, and from 4.30pm till 11pm every Sunday. Happy hour runs from 4.30 – 7.30pm – allowing you to try out their menu for a fraction of the price.

The cocktail menu is sorted by base spirit, making it easy to find a drink you like. Prices are pretty standard (around the £8 mark), with the menu also providing photos of some of the cocktails, and listing the type of glass used for each one to make it easier to decide if you want a long or short drink.

At the press launch, the atmosphere was fantastic: a great choice of music playing through the speakers, and the bar staff key to creating an unstuffy, informal atmosphere that will be right at home on the Triangle. Cocktails were made with expert precision, and as well as the old favourites, there are plenty of more unique options on the menu.

My first choice was the Blueberry Muffin from their “Top Twelve” list on the menu: a sweet and spicy combination of Absolut Vanilia, gingerbread syrup, cranberry juice, lemon juice and blueberry jam – a definite winner! For my second, I was swayed by the “Ice Cream Cocktails” page, and while the choice was hard, my Strawberry Shortcake (Amaretto Disaronno, strawberry puree and vanilla ice cream) hit the spot perfectly.

With its low lighting, great service and impressive range of cocktails, I think I’ll be back here again in the near future…and if you want to try it for yourself, head over anytime from 4.30pm on February 26!
