The GRAK (formerly Gloucester Rd Ale Kitchen) is an understated little place; a brick in the wall that is Gloucester Rd, vying for the right to remain fixed in place. Gace is the Captain, clear as the Carmarthen Sky, as honest and forthright as they come, and….wow. What a cook.
This review will be short, because now the pressure is on. These pictures may evoke memories of more decorated venues, but this place has truly earned its place in my heart. The Glamorgan Sausage is ‘perfick’, the Caprese Salad- a surprising miniscule masterpiece, and the less said about the five-spiced chicken satay (for your own sake), the better- it will blow you away.
Coupled with the electric, hot & cold, enigmatic nature of the place (live music was being prepared directly above us as we dined), it felt, almost immediately, that we had struck, yet again, on another gem.
Thank you, Bristol, and thank you, The GRAK.
