Bristol is certainly loving its tapas and small plates at the moment! With Harveys Cellars, Bravas and Manna having recently opened their doors to the public, there’s now another new tapas bar set to open on Park Street in May 2012.

With an expected opening date of May 21st, La Tomatina will be housed in the old Sue Sheppard building on the corner of Park Street and Unity Street. Trading as a cafe and tapas bar, the owners expect to be open from 8am until around 11.30pm, in a venue that houses 70 diners inside and will have around 20 seats outside for when the weather improves.

There is currently a lot of work being undertaken in order to transform the building into a food and drink venue, but it’s all starting to take shape. The whole place will have a rustic, relaxed feel, including a fantastic bar made from reclaimed wood, which will serve San Miguel and Staropramen on draught, as well as local ciders.

Exciting times for Park Street, with the Toro Pan Asian restaurant also having recently opened in the building that was formerly home to La Riva. It’ll be interesting to see how the tapas at La Tomatina compares to the other new Bristol restaurants!
