Lonely Mouth takes over Kitchen by KASK this May and June

Kitchen by KASK on North Street is partnering with Japanese soul food specialist, Lonely Mouth, for a two-month residency in May and June. From Thursday, May 4th through to the end of June, Olivia Maxwell-Yates will bring Lonely Mouth’s menu to BS3 – with KASK curating a special drinks menu that pairs perfectly with her food’s Asian flavours.

With previous residencies at The Plough and the Volunteer Tavern, Lonely Mouth draws on Olivia’s time spent in Tokyo and her love for Japan’s culture, people, music and buzz. She says, “This opportunity at Kitchen by KASK has come at the perfect time. I’ve put so much time, effort, creativity and love into Lonely Mouth and this is the ideal chance to concentrate on the dishes that make me nerdy about food. The menu is short, so the effort and ingredients in each dish will be great quality, and I’ll have time to experiment with specials and new dishes.”

Charlie Taylor, owner of Kitchen by KASK, said: “This is going to be the longest residency we’ve had, and with that comes an amazing opportunity to play around with new flavours to find ever-more interesting food + drink pairings. Just as exciting is the opportunity to change up the customer experience, working with Olivia on elements such as the interiors and the music to create a real Lonely Mouth takeover. This isn’t just a pop-up, this is effectively a new restaurant on North Street: spring is here and brings exciting changes!”

Taking pride on the menu will be ramen, with both Ox Beef and the classic Tantanmen with miso tare, spicy minced tantanmen pork and chicken paitan broth. Other dishes on the menu will include beef tartare oshizushi with nori crackers, and fried sweetbread with furikake and egg yolk sauce. There will also be vegan or vegetarian options available for each dish on the menu. Alongside the food, KASK will serve tasting flights of a range of beers, wines, ciders, spirits, sake and soft drinks to complement each dish.
